  • Been wanting to try Sparky’s for a while now ever since seeing them with their smoke meat plate at 4th Friday months ago. Happy to see that They have since grown & expanded their menu too! I didn’t mind though as that smoke meat is the thing I wanted to try. I got that & my mom ordered the loco moco. The meat had great flavor & not too many super fatty pieces. I tried my mom’s loco moco & the hamburger alone already had good flavor & their homemade gravy was also very tasty. Plates are served rice, corn & a their version of a macaroni type noodle salad. Portions are pretty big & lasted us 2 meals. Food was ready in a timely matter even though they told the group in front of us it would be a 20 minute wait as they were busy, the wait was definitely less then that. They have a good system going over there & pumping out some yummy food.

  • After walking around the Swap Meet looking for something eat to no avail… we decided to head to Kahului Harbor to see what food trucks were parked out there. I saw Sparky’s Food Company and I heard some good things about them which was perfect because I was really wanting to try something new. So, Sparky’s it was!

They are relatively new to the food truck scene after having expanded their operations from just selling smoked meat plates and they are a welcome addition. Their small menu is based on close friends and family recipes and are served with such aloha. The girl assisting us was really nice and friendly and we all had a good laugh discussing “Ballistic Missile Threat” mishap earlier that morning.

I decided to go with the Sparky’s Smoked Meat plate which includes 1/2 pound of pork marinated for 4 days, slow smoked in kiawe wood for 8 hours, & sauteed with onions and guava glaze. My husband got the Myrol’s Hamburger Steak which include 2 large hamburger patties smothered in homemade brown gravy and sauteed onions. Sound good? Damn straight! It was freaking delicious! My smoked meat had just the right amount of meat to fat ratio. Oooh and that guava glaze. SO good. My husband’s hamburger steak was also really good. The patty was moist, flavorful, & soft (wouldn’t work well for a burger as it would fall apart, but perfect for hamburger steak!). My husband said it’s probably the best hamburger steak he’s had so far. Each plate came with 2 scoops rice, corn, & a pasta salad. The servings were large and big enough for 2 meals for me!

I highly recommend checking them out. I’m super happy to have more food choices in the Kahului area and will happily support a family-run, local business! Follow them on Instagram for their latest locations @sparkysfoodco

  • Oh my Pork chop special with lilikoi sauce, yum!! Little you much batter. Or too thick. But that great taste was there. And the Chicken Katsu was good too. Tasty and yummy. Spaghetti mac salad was yummos!! The corn, well I’d like some butter melted on it. To give it some taste. It was bland pout of the can? Overall, I’d go back. I need to try that Hanmah burger!!
